to no avail.
ok.
i dont really have a practiced razzle-dazzle move (at least not with my male boss).
but anyway, my boss of two weeks (so far) didnt really give me much to work with.
y'know the busy-doing eight-other-things-whilst-glancing-my-way-once-or-twice-to-make-believe-he-actually-gives-a-horses-a$$-about-what-i-have-to-say bit.
needless to say, i didnt think that he was listening very well, so i just said something along the lines of "yeah, ok, mhm, alright, yeah".
and then promptly walked out the way i came in.
i think i'll try again tomorrow.
i do have a headache though.
so i ate a lot of ice cream today
again
and i will keep doing that until all of it is gone
and its good ice cream
it has raspberries in it.
five bars means my five servings of fruit!
i have this down to a science...

Bosses. Funny critters.
Good to see you scaling the good food pyramid.
lee - a man's gotta do...
must....reach....the.....summit....
no. thats the fats part of the pyramid if i recall. not good. but now they have a new revised one. it has vertical lines intead of horizontal ones. stupid. a waste of time. and probably provided for by LARGE amounts of tax dollars. hooray.
does that mean that I can use the ice cream I eat as servings of dairy?
Us women need our calcium you know...
When is the office Christmas Party? Sounds like that should be fun...
petra - absolutely. i'm a dr. you know.... no i'm not.
CG - you can be my date. it'll be a blast. well worth the trip from wherever you are.
bosses usually create headaches..
dont give up though
im sure u deserve what ure asking for and hopefully ull get it, sooner rather than later.
ice cream def helps though :)
chocolate works too :)
LOL - i'll keep it in mind. perhaps vanilla ice cream with chocolate swirl will kill two birds with one stone...er...scoop.
Ice cream with raspberries sounds DELICIOUS! Hmm... I might have to run to the store.
TD - now which guy wouldnt like initials like that. what with the giants clinching a playoff spot and...(i know. blah, blah, blah. i cant help it. sorry.)
but i digress. welcome. and yeah. its actually amazing, and i never thought it would happen, but i think i'm getting sick of the stuff. on to some other calorie-laden treat!
Justy Boy :(
Sorry to hear that didn't go well. They say that the best time to ask for a raise is after your boss/supervisor praises you for your hard work. My biggest success in getting a raise, is by finding a way to save the company money.
#1 Look for an area that the company is inefficient or losing money.
#2 Have a solution to the problem ready when you point it out.
i.e.: "You know Mr. Boss, I see that we spend $10,000 per year on chapstick for employees to kiss your butt. We could probably save $3,000 if we switched to the unflavored kind."
He'll notice you right away. Honest. :)
You should bring your boss copious amounts of icecream!! And not the raspberrie shit!! The real thing with nuts and marshmellows and chocolate stuffs and white chocolate and well you get the point!!! Bring it baby!!!
Then provide him with a spoon and ask away!!!
This usually works!!
If not, i can think of other things too!!!
sweet cheeks - your example is a fantastically perfect one. i hope you dont mind my quoting you verbatim.
michelle - i still dont think he'd listen. plus, he doesnt pay me enough to afford that much ice cream. i may be able to buy him a "small" but that wouldn't last long enough...
My last boss got hired on 6 months before our office got closed down. She spent all her time in her office setting up a book store. Then she acted all surprised and sad when they announced we were being closed down.
I don't have any ice cream, but man do I have a lot of chocolates, cookies and booze.
captain - is that stash for sharing, or are you keeping it all to yourself?
He's got a list, he's checked it twice...A very Merry Christmas to you and your family.
lee - are you referring to my boss or santa? either way. thank you. and to you and yours.
Is that headache from eating the ice cream or from your boss? If both, I believe that qualifies for short term..
Happy Holidays!
I'm about to strangle my boss right now, so I think you did well by walking away. I'll have to try that. Meanwhile, maybe I can drown my sorrows in some of that raspberry ice cream? Got an extra spoon lying around??
SK - this too shall pass. right? its a lesson i have yet to learn. i'm workin' on it...
HP - they are actually bars. and i bought like 10 boxes becasue i fell in love with them. seriously. and now they are dwindling thankfull. i have started eating half and throwing out the rest cause i just cant anymore. ahhh....how the mighty have fallen....
