and for good measure...

j. cosmo newbery asks on his site if you had a do-over button you could push for one event in your life, which would it be.
it never ceases to amaze me, how, the things in life that i might hit the button for invariably are those that i didnt do, as opposed to the ones i did do.
i mean there are things i would love to take back and change and whatnot. but its always the things i didnt do that i regret most.

Yes, it's odd but it is usually the case.

Image having one of those back arrows on your life! But then, presumably every time you click it you don't just go back you also undo everything you learnt in the last phase too. Bugger.

I was once talked into getting a perm which I ended up getting.

I hit that undo button the very next day. Oh yeah, you can undo a perm! Thank God.(dess)

hmmm, well, i've always thought it would be interesting to have an "it's a wonderful life" moment when you see what life would have been like w/out you, but aside from some minor things i wouldn't change things because everything i've done or not makes me who i am. and most of the time i like that person.

lee - it makes me stop and wonder every time. and i keep resolving (to various degrees of efficacy) to change my ways and start jumping in the fire more often.

JCN - yeah. i guess you do need the wisdom to go along with the decision. but i think being armed with the attitude might be enough.

CG - yeah, i guess perms are not for life. i havent ever gotten one. i dont know that males get perms. at least none that i know.

CK - good for you. its quite an accomplishment. i cant say that for myself.

I'm not sure if I regret more the fact that I didn't do something or the fact that I wouldn't even consider doing something. There are so many things I missed out on in life because I talked myself out of even thinking of the options. Good points.

I've thought about it before, but I'm always terrified of the chain of events that a do-over would have. More so, what end result would be taken away from me, if I took back a memory?

SK - excellent point. the considering aspect. really good. didnt think of that.

sherendipity - depends on the situation. but there are many times (many many) where i dont even care. i would take it back. i'm probably lucky that i dont get the chance :)

Even the worst decisions I've made have led to something good in my life. I guess I'm also on the side of wishing I'd done more with the opportunities I've had in life. That said, I've done a lot, so I can't complain too much ;) .

goodfather - if you can say that, y'done well.

ive come to learn that life is all about taking risks, (thats a pretty scray word)
those who risk nothing may avoid alot of pain but at the same time miss out on lots of happiness.. (or both where you learn more about life and about yourself)

giving yourself the freedom to 'risk' makes you who you are..

who knows what the future holds..

ok that was me rambling a bit.
is that what some of blogging is for?!?!

either way, thanks for all the thoughts, good stuff :)

LOL - welcome aboard and thanks. that's what this is here for.

I'm regretting being sick this weekend and missing your 1,356 posts! Geez. Clearly what you need for your blog block is for me to go away!

PS... glad your dad is OK.
PPS... Hope your hangover didn't last too long.
PPPS... And awwww that you visit your grandparents (I never really had any, but I think they're sweet).

Hmmm...a do over button. Food for thought for sure. I'd be afraid of pushing the do over button, then regret it and push the 'do over again' button right next to it. Then the space/time continuum would be all screwed up and the world would implode...all because I couldn't decide if I wanted Diet Coke or Green Tea... :)

diane - you were sorely missed. seriously. and now you have SO much to read. lucky you.

sweet cheeks - howdy and welcome. yeah. i hear that with the buttons. go with the green tea. at least thats what THEY say. and THEY are seldom wrong...

all because a little bug went kerchoo... ok. that was a book that we used to read constantly. it was a because-this-happened-so-then-this-happened type of sequence of events book (did that sentence make ANY sense at all?). cool kids book for all those keeping score at home...

I have to agree with you that it's the things I didn't do -- or more accurately didn't STICK with -- that I regret the most.

There are a couple things I'd take a mulligan on, however...

pearl - ahhhh, the mulligan...
y'know i just learned what that word meant a week ago. i've lived such a sheltered life...

sweet cheeks - from repeated pushing no doubt :) . i think the button is in a permanent state of disrepair upon birth.

Of course, if you've been like me and did pretty much everything life has presented, you can end up with a lot of things you DID do, but will forever regret.

michelle - i'll take nice and funny over cool and hot. although theyre nice too. but i'll have to wait for those comments until i post pictures of myself flexing in the hot summer sun on the beach.

beth - howdy and welcome. i still say that having done is usually better than not. but who knows. maybe i'll have to go and do a few more things...
