back to the song thing

ok.
first of all, this song is absolutely worth a listening to (or 15)
kenny wayne sheppard can play the guitar like few others
and the lyrics are great
and the vocals are great

second, i am colorblind (as many men are. few women. dont know for sure why that is. although i can think of a few reasons.) so my comments in color might not be as manly as, say, the booty award. but thats how it goes.

on to the song.

Blue On Black

Night falls, I'm alone
Skin, chilled to the bone
You... turned and you ran
Slipped right from my hands nice.

Blue on black
Tears on a river
Push on and shove
Don't mean much
Joker on Jack
Match on a fire each line in this chorus is a piece of work. LOVE IT!!!!
Cold on ice
As a deadman's touch
Whisper on a scream
Doesn't mean a thing
Won't bring you back
Blue on black

Blind, now I see
Truth lies, and in between
Wrongs can't be undone
Slipped from the tip of your tongue
Blue on black
Tears on a river
Push on and shove
Don't mean much
Joker on Jack
Match on a fire
Cold on ice
As a deadman's touch
Whisper on a scream
Doesn't mean a thing
Won't bring you back
Blue on black
Blue... on... black...

I like the 'truth/lies' lines... struck a chord, I guess.

Missed your commentary, though :)

Colorblind, eh? And I thought men just had no taste ;)

I had never heard the song, and since you spoke so highly I checked it out on YouTube.

Sexy sound.

Sexy hopelessness.

I guess it's sexy overall.

hey diane - well, men might BOTH not have taste AND be colorblind. the deficinecies just keep piling up. i say do away with the whole gender (i think theres a movie like that somewhere). i volunteer to be the one that you keep in the cage in the museum for the display on "how things used to be". please make sure to have many videos of football games, lots of beer, and nightly visits from the all-female security detail. just sayin'...

CK - thanks for taking my reccomendation. its truly a piece of art.

One of my all-time favorite tunes and a great album, overall. Thanks for reminding me of it. I wonder why I haven't uploaded it into my ipod yet.

Anyway, keep posting, I'll come back for more.

I always thought my great aunt was color blind. It turned out she was just drunk a lot. Which definitely explained the alcohol smell..
Great song!

It is a GREAT tune! I had forgotten about it until the words drifted through my often empty head about a month ago... then I had to download it. I think I will play it now

lump - tht's his lead singer (who has a GREAT voice). apparently he cant be bothered with singing. and he does play the guitar well enough to just do that and leave the singing to someone else.

SK - the things you realize when you get older. which reminds me, thats a good topic for a blog. let me get out my trusty-little-blog-ideas book. oh. wait. i dont have one. for shame...

dizzblnd - a good version wasnt avail for a long time unless you owned the cd. now thanks to youtube...

CG - i'm on my way!
