so calvin,

(of calvin and hobbes fame) is doing a crossword puzzle
apparently it asks for the name of some bird and there are only five boxes
he thinks the correct answer is "yellow bellied sapsucker" and comments to hobbes in disgust that the crossword puzzle people (idiots) make you cram all the letters into those boxes (or something like that).
this post by lee reminded me of it.
now that i've mauled the joke, if someone actually finds it they'll laugh twice.
once because it's funny, another at the way i described it.

HA! i found it
and here it is
its funny and its the bottom one on page 14
yes
its worth straining your neck for.

anyway, i must go do some work
for a change
no new years resolutions, but i would like to keep my job...

which reminds me of a sign i saw at an office i once visited. said something like "my boss pretends to pay me, and i pretend to work".

and thats all folks!

I love me some Calvin. He's totally the kid I would have if I had a boy. As it is, I have Ryan and Stuart (a mouse). They're not quite as... spirited... but they definitely have the smart-ass genes.

diane - smart-ass genes are good.

k9 - i think its a deadly combo. calvin and the dude. but it works for me... :)

jess - good to see you. i think i have all the books as well. part of any self-respecting library.

Calvin & Hobbes and Bloom County were my two favorite cartoons. Still are since I don't really read many cartoons anymore once they went away. sigh.

earl - never really got into bloom county all that much. but it did have its moments.

Calvin and Hobbes are totally cute cartoons. Except...I would have called them Kid and Kat...cuz that's how my twisted mind works.
:)

sweet cheeks - twisted is often good. no worries.
he (bill watterson) actually writes in one of his introductions how he came to the names. but it's heavy reading. not very cartoon-ish. but i guess people needed to know...

calvin and hobbes and bloom county were the only cartoons i ever got into. i have all of the books (i think) of both. one of my faves of calvin and hobbes is the snowman series, where he makes all of these hysterical snowmen all over the place. cracks me up every time. bloom county--my true love. really.

CK - he has a beautifully warped mind. love the one where calvin puts a beheaded snowman in front of his dads car and the other snowmen are standing there pointing and holding their "hands" to their head. priceless...

lee - how can you help it. unless of course you happen to have a child like calvin...

michelle - it was a treat every day to see what that demented child had in store. alas, no more.
