sooooo......

i lived in a basement for a while while trying to figure out what to do with the rest of my life.
i've since moved, but i'm still not sure what to do with the rest of my life.
anyway, i changed locations because i couldn't listen to the landlord's daughter play fur elise one more time.
she obviously took lessons.
and it seems that this song was the only number the teacher taught her.
no scales. no arpeggios. no nothing.
just radio WFFE. all fur elise, all the time.
i mean i thought of many ways to get her to stop.

1. banging on the ceiling every time she started.
2. cutting a hole in the floor around the damned piano.
3. playing my guitar on the highest volume.
4. with full distortion.
5. camping outside most evenings.
6. proposing marriage contingent on her ceasing and desisting.

i didnt do any of those.
i chose the path of least resistance.
and moved.

ok. there were other reasons.
i didnt like living underground.
i suppose we all get there one day, but i preferred to spend my living years above it.

all's well that ends well.
but then i had to remodel the home i moved into.
and THAT my friends, is a whole other post.

I have always found fur elise to be an atrocity of music and an assault on a tolerant music lover's last nerve. I'd have moved too and taken her piano with me.

I would have gone with number 2. I hate fur elise :))

That would surely test my sanity.

ib - assault is a good word. a sledgehammer would have been better. leave the carnage there. as a reminder.

braja - might've ruined my apartment. but come to think of it, it may not have been a bad trade...

keeper of sprite - it did. made e think (and often say) bad things.

I don't liek living in basement apartments either. Too dark.

But the idea of cutting a hole in the floor around the piano conjures up images of Wiley Coyote and a saw.

Living in anyone's basement would be a downer. I love piano music but only what I get to choose, and not beginners pounding away. I will play the piano only when no one else is around, because I don't want to subject another to my wrong notes, and it would give me the absolute creeps to have someone living in my basement.
Good move for you.

You, my friend, do NOT belong underground.

Thanks for your sweet comments the past few days... they were much appreciated... XO

secret agent - basements are ok when financial constraints make it that or a box in an alley. and the piano on my head a la wile e. is a perfect description.

yvonne - someone once said that no one should be allowed to play the violin until he has mastered it. kind of unfair, but i hear it. loud and clear.

staceyj - thank you. i shall.

diane - thank you. i will call you to the witness stand if neccessary.
good to have you back. you were missed...
