the machine

and when i only speak so that you can answer
i know that i love you more than i could ever imagine
more than i could hope to express
only to clench my fists and make a guttural sound
something animal
something primal
something
bordering on painful

"and when i only speak so that you can answer

imagine"...that is a truly beautiful thought, one I've never contemplated, yet now wholeheartedly recognise. Writers who can unearth emotion we never even knew we had experienced ourselves truly do posses immense talent.

The sensuality of this piece is wondrous, and you've honestly captured the essence of what it is to be passionately in love..."bordering on painful". So very true.

This leaves me with few words. Simply beautiful and pure and raw. I love it.

There are so many ways to read into this. I'll take a negative POV. Are you being selfish? Are you only loving when the other person's speaking to you? And, does love have to be so painful? Primal I can uderstand. But, hurtful?

Or do you only hear the other person's voice - unaware of the world around you?

P. S. I was not so good in Eng. Lit. So help me out with understanding.

I have to confess that I just don't 'get' poetry. Unless it's set to music. lol

Loved Monkey Man's response though. Cracked me up.
